About me

I first became absorbed by counselling in 1989 whilst working in Bedfordshire for Social Services. I was working with teenagers who had all had difficult and unfortunate family situations to deal with, mostly being abused which resulted in challenging behaviour. I was counselling youngsters and their families and became interested in how backgrounds affect our view of not only ourselves but also those around us and how we see ourselves fitting into and developing our own personal, private world and making sure we are significant.

Following this post I worked in a Crisis Centre for youngsters. Young people were admitted to us by Social Services and arrived traumatised and in crisis. Our clients were supported in a safe and nurturing environment whilst a more permanent placement was found and again part of my role was counselling very emotionally challenged young people.

I have worked in GP surgeries, a Private Psychiatric hospital and an Adult Mental Health department.

I moved to Cornwall in 1999 and I worked for Cornwall Counselling Centre until it sadly closed.

I have been working in Private Practice since 1994 and continue to do so. I work with individuals, couples, and families.
